SPARK | Event Branding and Marketing Assets

Role: Marketing and Design Support
Tools Used: Canva, Photopea, Dynamics 365, BEE, Hootsuite
Company: Business Development Resources (BDR)

Overview

While working at Business Development Resources, the team decided to create and host a three-day annual event for clients. The event was named SPARK, and the goal was to build excitement, strengthen community connection, and provide a memorable experience for attendees. I collaborated with the Marketing, Events, and Management teams to create branded materials, signage, and digital assets for the event.

This project gave me the opportunity to help build the visual identity for SPARK while contributing to the marketing strategy and attendee communications.

Process
Event Badges

One of my responsibilities was designing attendee event badges. Using Canva and Dynamics 365, I created badges that included:

• The SPARK logo
• A custom QR code
• Attendee name
• Company name
• Company location

Using Dynamics 365 helped streamline registration and made the scanning process efficient during check-in. This ensured badges were easy to identify and functional for both attendees and event staff.

Event Signage

I also designed several pieces of signage used throughout the venue. These included:

• Three retractable banners
• Nine session and room displays
• Four directional signs

Most assets were designed in Canva, but the retractable banners required Photopea due to size limitations and our limited Adobe access. This allowed the quality and scale to remain consistent while working within the tools available.

Social Media Support

Leading up to the event, the Marketing Team shared announcements and countdown posts to build excitement and encourage registration. I created social media graphics in Canva and scheduled campaigns through Hootsuite to keep everything organized and consistent.

One of the early promotional campaigns included announcing the SPARK 2023 location, which helped generate engagement and anticipation.

Email Campaigns

In addition to visual assets, I helped design and build email templates using BEE. These emails included attendee updates, event reminders, and announcement messages. I also created a new reusable email layout that the company could continue using beyond the event to maintain consistency in future marketing.

Results and Reflection

SPARK successfully brought together over 200 attendees, and the feedback from participants and internal teams was overwhelmingly positive. The project required close collaboration across multiple departments, including Marketing, Events, and Management, which helped strengthen communication, alignment, and relationship-building across the company. Working with different teams allowed me to approach the project from multiple perspectives and helped ensure the event experience felt cohesive and intentional from start to finish.

This project reinforced how effective design and communication can influence how attendees experience an event, beginning with the first announcement and carrying through to check-in, navigation, and online interaction.. It also strengthened my skills in cross-team collaboration, branding consistency, and managing contributions from multiple stakeholders while keeping the overall vision unified.
