Selective Retouching & Photo Compositing Support
Background/Context
Role: Digital Artist & Retouching Specialist
Tools Used: Photoshop
Company: Omega Photo
Overview
This project involved selective retouching support for a client who wanted edits made to photos of her grandchildren. The project was initially assigned to a coworker who worked closely with the client to understand their vision and handle the majority of the edits. I was brought in to assist with more technical compositing requests when additional support was needed.
Process
Face Swap Assistance
During the editing process, my coworker reached out to me for help with a face swap. The client wanted her grandchild’s face from the left image placed onto the right image so the baby would appear to be looking directly at the camera.
I completed the face swap within ten minutes, making sure the expression, lighting, and alignment felt natural. Once finished, I handed the project back to my coworker so she could continue working with the client.
Additional Client Request
The following day, the client emailed again with an additional request. She asked if the baby could also appear to be clapping, similar to the pose in the image where the baby was looking at the camera. My coworker asked for my help again, and I was able to composite the clapping gesture into the image within another ten-minute window.
Results and Reflection
The client was very happy with the final images, and my coworker appreciated having support to quickly handle the more complex edits. This project highlights my ability to step into an existing workflow, collaborate seamlessly with teammates, and deliver precise compositing work efficiently under time constraints.
It also reinforced the value of teamwork and being a reliable resource when specialized skills are needed to meet client expectations.
